Greene is located in the southwestern end of Chenango County approximately 60 south of Syracuse. The fire department is Village owned and contracts its services to the Town of Greene. The Greene Fire Department has been proudly protecting the residents since 1840. Today we protect approximately 7,000 residents living in an area of 84 square miles with 70 all volunteer members operating out of one station located on North Canal Street in the village.

Fire protection for our residents is done with 2 Engines, 1 Quint, 2 Tankers, 1 Heavy Rescue, 1 Brush Truck, and 1 Operations Support vehicle. With this arsenal of equipment and the minimal response times offers an ISO rating of 3 / 8B to our residents and businesses.

Every Monday night the firehouse has activities going on, whether it's the business meeting, house and apparatus detail, training, or the officers meeting. If you would like to visit please stop in we would be more than happy to show you our home.
